Deer Park is a small unincorporated community on the slope between St. Helena and Angwin, strung along Deer Park Road and home to Adventist Health St. Helena, which began in the nineteenth century as a health retreat. The 2020 Glass Fire burned through this area and forced the hospital to evacuate, and many homes on the surrounding slopes were damaged or lost. What are the electrical requirements for a sauna heater?
A standard 6 to 9kW electric heater needs its own 240V circuit, usually 30 to 50 amps depending on the model, with nothing else on that breaker. Larger commercial rooms need more. Many infrared cabins run on a 120V or small 240V circuit. Older homes in Old Town and Alta Heights often have 100-amp service, and ranch properties may share a panel with a well pump, so we check capacity before we recommend a heater.
